Diamond is excited to announce raising over $2 million in funding to revolutionize personal data management, creating a single access point for all cloud-based email, data storage services and your personal devices. The round of funding was participate by Palantir Co-Founder Joe Lonsdale of 8VC (formerly Formation 8), Cherubic Ventures, OVO Fund, Beehive, Partech Ventures, Sway Ventures, Tekton Ventures, Garage VC, Silicon Valley legend Pierre Lamond, and more.
People today manage more data than ever before. From files to photos and emails to spreadsheets, a single person may have tens of thousands of items spread out over a half-dozen or more cloud-based storage systems. While it’s amazing that it’s possible to have all of this data weightlessly stored online, increased fragmentation has become a painful side effect. For those whose work is web-centric, is tech-heavy, or who are mobile, this fragmentation isn’t just annoying. For them, it can be crippling.
Sticking to a single cloud service simply isn’t feasible for the vast majority of people and when you really need to find something quickly, searching through all the possible places it could be is frustrating and inefficient. Diamond alleviates the frustration of not being able to find something you know is there, but can’t remember precisely where.
For Diamond Founder Pierre Arys and Head Engineer Leander Lee, solving this problem all came down to reducing friction. Inspired by J.A.R.V.I.S., the engaging and endlessly helpful AI-powered assistant in Iron Man, they are building a personal layer of secure intelligence that covers all of your devices and services, including Google Drive, Gmail, Dropbox, and more, making your data accessible and queryable regardless of where it is stored. “At the core of Diamond’s vision,” explains Lee, “is a belief in human and machine symbiosis. We believe in the idea that humans can live much richer and fuller lives by leveraging machines to overcome our weaknesses.”
Investor Bill Malloy, Founding General Partner of Sway Ventures, adds that
“...the proliferation of data is de facto. As humans, either within enterprises or households, we are creating more data, documents, and content than we can possibly process. The answer has been largely to just throw more storage at the problem, so as data has increased, so have the number of cloud storage tools. Diamond is solving this with software that is distinctly human-focused, personal, and trusted. Pierre and the team are building the software to tackle the inefficiencies inherent in managing work, and we’re excited to be backing them."
With Diamond, there are no more endless browser tabs or frantic searches. As Arys puts it, users can “type one letter and Diamond is already giving you what you need. It helps you work faster, better, and more seamlessly.”
In addition to helping people work faster and better, Diamond is safe. For Arys and Lee, both software engineers with deep experience in the startup space, security was the top priority from day one. So every time a user connects to Diamond, their identity is verified via email, and their files are never stored. Diamond helps you get to the stuff you need but doesn’t put your privacy at risk in the process.
“We’re at a unique point in time where machine learning techniques are giving once unreachable results,”
says Arys, and Diamond is excited to be leveraging the newest artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to revolutionize how people interact with their information. With over a million searches already completed through Diamond, the team, including Head of Product Ashutosh Syal and Head of Growth Desmond Choi, co-founders, and investors, look forward to helping more people access more information, more quickly, and with greater security all with Diamond’s help.
